Nowadays, every company and institution depends on effective, business-oriented IT support for its operation. Appropriate IT systems make the work more efficient, decrease the probability of errors and open up new business perspectives. The design and selection of these IT systems, the management and execution of IT development projects, testing and rolling out new systems are all crucial steps in order to implement efficient and high-quality IT systems on time and within budget.
It is our primary goal to achieve alignment between business needs and the possibilities of information technology. We are familiar with both our Clients' business processes and the typical stumbling blocks of IT development projects; thus, we can make sure that the Client will receive a solution - on time - that perfectly matches their needs. Moreover, implementing an IT system requires significant contribution not only from the supplier, but also from the Client. Our services help to minimize this "burden" on the Client side.
In the past one and a half decades, our consultants supported a number of IT development projects with their sector-specific know-how, IT knowledge, and management competence. We have collected substantial experience in the development of new systems as well as in the adoption and integration of specific products and in system upgrades.
We can offer to our Clients - beside Client-side consulting services - also complete IT solutions.
The Higher Education Information System aims at providing a country-wide unified information base about the approximately 40,000 lecturers and 400,000 students of Hungary's higher education institutions. It is the basis for the calculation of per-student financing of the institutions and the accreditation of lecturers, it supports the Educational Authority of the Ministry of Education and Culture in the fulfilment of their duties, it provides information for the student ID card and the higher education admission information bases, and it is the basis for providing data to external parties, such as the National Health Insurance Fund Administration. In order to fulfil these requirements, the Higher Education Information System must integrate the diverse information systems (e.g., NEPTUN, ETR) of the 72 relevant institutions. For the application integration tasks, IBM WebSphere Message Broker is used.
Contribution of AAM Group to the project:
- Requirements analysis, assessment of the possibilities of integrating the system into the existing IT infrastructure
- System design
- System implementation using Java, IBM DB2, WebSphere MQ and Message Broker technologies
- Development of a Java-based solution for electronic signatures and signature verification compliant to the recommendation of MELASZ (Hungarian Electronic Signature Alliance)
- Professional and project management support of the development process
- Design and implementation of application integration interfaces
- Planning, executing, and assessing developer tests, user tests, integration tests, and regression tests
- Contribution to the establishment and configuration of the development, test, and final operations environments
- Participation in the roll-out of the developed modules
In accordance with the specific IT infrastructure needs of the financial sector, the development of core banking systems lead to increasing demand for the planned and scheduled management of test environments (both integrated and stand-alone environments) equivalent to the real environment, as well as for the continuous tracking of development and testing tasks. Because of the specific testing requirements, the operation of the 10-20 parallel test environments to handle specific errors, as well as the provision of testing infrastructure for the critical tests related to the live core banking systems' scheduled version upgrades, it became necessary to establish a separate unit within the organization to handle the tasks of test environment management.
The support of test environment management tasks with project management tools enables the establishment of appropriate communication and control concerning the operations of test environments between the IT and business organizational units, which is of high added value to the managers responsible for the seamless operations of the bank (on both the IT and business side).
AAM's contributions:
- Coordinating and keeping record of changes to the test environments
- Orchestrating the scheduled end-of-day closure of test environments
- Managing test environment needs
- Capacity management for storage and server systems
- Supporting the work of the system administrators and of the application support team
- Acting as a communication interface between application owners, developers, system administrators, and operators
- Planning the test environment needs for the development of the core banking system and related systems
- Helping to integrate the processes of the test environment management group into the unified workflow system of the Bank
Consultancy services supporting the implementation of IT systems:
- Preparation of IT development projects. Accurate preparation is the prerequisite of a successful project. In close cooperation with our Clients, we help in the conception, in the preparation of the GO / NO GO decision, in locating appropriate financing sources, in drafting a feasibility study, as well as in deciding whether to adopt an existing product or to create a tailored solution.
- System design. The fate of an IT development project is often already determined in the early phases. We help our Clients in devising a well-founded, feasible system design that is in line with the business needs. We collect and analyze functional and non-functional requirements, and on this basis, we draft the systems specification. It is important to us to take into account already at this stage the needs of later phases (testing, migration, operations).
- Selecting the supplier. We help our Clients in the selection of the right partner for the implementation. We support the legitimate and successful accomplishment of the necessary selection / public procurement procedure.
- Testing. We make sure by thorough testing that the new system meets all the previously defined requirements. We manage the complete testing process and the execution of the acceptance tests.
- Rollout, migration, training. Our aim is to provide for a smooth transition to the new system. Together with our Clients, we plan and manage the critical rollout period, minimizing the burdens induced by the transition. This way, users can quickly start using the new system productively.
- Project management and quality assurance. We help our Clients in controlling their IT development projects from start to finish and in obtaining high-quality results on time.
- System audit. We support our Clients with the audit of their systems in operation. We verify old systems for compliance with current business needs, as well as with current and future challenges concerning functionality, extensibility, and security.
